Nothing earth shattering here. But taking a look at the numbers certainly gives me some perspective. For example, over 500 million pieces of mail are processed in a DAY by the USPS. Whew! Helps me to be a bit more understanding when on occasion some of my mail arrives crinkled or dog-eared.

Hope you enjoy some of the stats.

554,000,000

Pieces of mail the U.S postal Service processed on an average day in 2011.

17%

Portion of consumers who receive direct mail advertisements of special offers from businesses every day.

22 to 24

The age range if consumers most likely to respond to a mail piece.

3.3 Billion

The number of direct mail coupons redeemed in 2010, according to DMA

45%

Approximate percentage of adult consumers who purchased from catalogs last year who had an annual household income between $35,000 and $99,999.
